Driving up to the property, the outside areas did not look clean like the pictures we saw. Totally unkept and front porch not even swept. When we opened the door my wife said she smelled a strange odor. In the cabin we saw dead horse flies and alive ones as well as stink bugs and big ants both dead and alive. Cleaning other than the middle of the floor was poor. My wife started cleaning up and noticed dirt on kitchen backsplash, in the toaster, as well as countertop and the table. Crumbs in the living area, table floor area and the screened porch. The lower bath had a dirty toilet, although the toilet seat was taped with sanitation strip. The bowl was not brown like the one upstairs most likely from dirt in the water line that had not been used for some time! There were hairs on the floor and also the tub. My wife had to clean for an hour and a half downstairs all surfaces. In the lower bedroom, we noticed an intensified smell of a dead animal, and we could not use the lower bedroom at all during our stay even though we spent many hours trying to air it out even after whatever died was removed from the closet by the management crew. The idea of a hospital spray was a good one, but did not remove that smell of death. We stayed outside much of our stay in the screen porch although the gap in the door allowed bugs to enter at will. The clean hot tub was greatly appreciated. Cleaning gets a D overall. The cabin is showing its age with sticking doors, upstairs shower head that if turned a little squirts water onto the floor, and the rusty electric heater. I thank my wife for cleaning up after the cleaning service especially on her birthday when she shouldn't have had to. Once we had checked in late Saturday it was too late to bother management with non-emergency cleaning issues, but they were quick to respond in next day and attempted to remedy the dead smell." Loretta the cleaning lady was upset and said the beds and bathroom was clean BUT It was not Tooth paste still on the holder and the master sheets had blood on them clearly not clean sheets it was disturbing to know my husband and I had slept in the bed clearly not knowing they were dirty I should have known something was wrong when I went in the room because the bedspread was not on the bed correctly. The carpets had clearly not been vacuumed an empty milk jug sitting on the coffee table. The stove light didn't work because the wasn't one the wires were hanging down not safe at all. I did take pictures of the toothpaste, light and the blood on sheets. I was told that there was someone that was to inspect after the cleaning crew was finished that did not happen. Over all not a good experience with our stay for how much money it cost my friends from SC will never stay there again and it made me upset. I blame the management for not doing there job. If your wondering why it took so long to review this stay my husband said not to worry about it but he wasn't the one laying in the blood on the sheets. I had to wash the sheets.
